The September Promise works with local schools across Chester and Ellesmere Port to identify and connect with school leavers who are not progressing in academia in order to help them find work.
Prospects for school leavers are particularly tough this year as a result of COVID-19, and as a result this project helps to encourage young people to move into work through internships and employment opportunities, apprenticeships, volunteering opportunities, training opportunities through Youth Fed’s own Learning Management System and providing access to digital and cyber security training through Youth Fed’s two fixed Security Operations Centres and digital cyber programme (partnered with IBM, Raytheon and GCHQ).
Supported by the Cheshire and Warrington Pledge and Youth Fed’s NCS Delivery Team, this course provides access to Youth Fed’s on-site digital studio and expanding on-line digital training suite.
An Intensive Mentor will also provide targeted interventions for young people with additional and complex needs, using the SELF toolkit developed with young people over the last 7 years to support their Skills, Employment, Life and Future aspirations. The mentors will deliver a range of interventions, stabilising personal circumstances, enhancing personal and social development and building life skills. The support offered will be bespoke and tailored to young people’s interests and needs, delivered at de-stigmatising venues, where young people feel safe.
