On Thursday 5th March, all of the Youth Investment Fund providers from across Wirral, Halton and St Helens came together to celebrate the success of the 4REAL programme at the Civic Hall in Ellesmere Port.
The Youth Investment Fund is a £40 million joint investment by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and The National Lottery Community Fund for open access youth provision in targeted disadvantaged areas. One element of the YIF project was the 4REAL programme. Launched in October 2017, the 4Real programme was a seven-week activity-based programme designed to improve mental and physical well-being through open access provision, with an emphasis on social action.
This celebration marked the end of the 4REAL programme after a successful three years. It was a special occasion which enabled all of the providers to share their success stories from the programme. The National Lottery Community Fund attended the day and were impressed with the number of providers who were able to bring their funding stories to life.
Guest speakers included Matt Houghton from HYPE on the Wirral, Debra Millican from World Merit and Nicola Egerton from the Sutton Academy.
Sharon Vaughan, Youth Investment Fund Project Coordinator for Youth Fed, commented: “It was a great to see our delivery partners come together for a big celebration of the 4REAL programme. We hope that we can build on the success of the programme by continuing to work more collaboratively in the future.”
