We are honoured to celebrate Alastair Stoddart as he steps down as a Trustee of Youth Fed. Alastair has not only been a towering presence in the realm of youth work but also a true friend, mentor, and unwavering advocate for young people.
Alastair joined Youth Fed during a particularly challenging period. Post-economic crash Britain presented a difficult landscape for charities, with the Comprehensive Spending Review ushering in significant cuts. Like many others, we were striving to find our footing.
It was John Bateman who recommended Alastair to Youth Fed, confident in his ability to guide us through these turbulent times. And he was right. Alastair initially joined as a Trustee and subsequently ascended to the role of Chair of Youth Fed from 2012 to 2014, continuing his service as a Trustee until 2024.
This commitment was not merely professional—it was deeply personal. Upon joining the family business, his father encouraged him to engage with a local youth club. This single act ignited a lifelong dedication to supporting young people, marking the beginning of something extraordinary. His impact has been both macro and micro, significantly shaping organisations such as MYA, UK Youth, and Youth Fed through his varied roles.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Alastair for his leadership, humour, passion, and friendship. His contributions have indelibly shaped this organisation, leaving a legacy that will be felt for generations to come. He has been, and will always remain, a true friend of Youth Fed.
