What is it?

The Your Mind Matters team provides strengths-based early intervention therapy for young people in Cheshire who are experiencing mild to moderate mental ill health, such as anxiety and depression. Support is offered as 1-2-1 or in groups, helping young people to build confidence, knowledge and resilience. We teach young people about how the brain works, how to change habits and beliefs, plus identify what strengths or methods they’ve used in the past, for example, when having suicidal thoughts.
Our team uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), working with young people to explore their feelings, work through life challenges, and identify how different responses or coping behaviours can create, exacerbate, or manage challenges. We offer high/low intensity interventions (inc. guided self-help, Next Step cards, behavioural activation, cognitive restructuring and problem solving) and work with young people to put protective factors in place to maintain good mental health in the future.
Youth Fed works with, and refers to, other programmes and community partners who can offer complementary, alternative or specialist support (with permission) ensuring a holistic approach to the needs of young people.
Thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund for funding our Youth Mental Health service in Cheshire through the Reaching Communities programme.
