The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a challenging but rewarding programme for young people aged 14 and up, designed to help them develop personal skills and have fun. It’s the first level in the DofE programme, and it’s a stepping stone to achieving the Silver and Gold awards.

Age and Eligibility:

  • You can start the Bronze DofE when you’re in the school year you’ll turn 14.

Programme Structure:

  • The Bronze Award involves four sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition.

Section Requirements:

    • Volunteering: You need to volunteer for at least three months.
    • Physical: You need to engage in a physical activity for at least three months.
    • Skills: You need to develop a new skill for at least three months.
    • Expedition: You need to plan, train for, and complete a two-day, one-night expedition.

Time Commitment:

  • It usually takes around six months to complete the Bronze Award.
