What is it?
Youth Fed has been improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people since 2018. Due to our recent long-term partnership and investment with The National Lottery Community Fund, Youth Fed has increased the team enabling us to help many more young people across the whole of Cheshire who are experiencing mild to moderate mental ill health, such as anxiety and depression.
The Your Mind Matters team provides strengths-based early intervention therapy offered as 1-2-1 or in groups, helping young people to build confidence, knowledge and resilience. We teach young people about how the brain works, how to change habits and beliefs, plus identify what strengths or methods they’ve used in the past, for example, when having suicidal thoughts.
Our team uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) working with young people to explore their feelings, work through life challenges, and identify how different responses or coping behaviours can create, exacerbate, or manage challenges. We offer high/low intensity interventions (inc. guided self-help, Next Step cards, behavioural activation, cognitive restructuring and problem solving) and work with young people to put protective factors in place to maintain good mental health in the future.
Youth Fed works with, and refers to, other programmes and community partners who can offer complementary or alternative support (with your permission) ensuring a holistic approach to the needs of young people.
